Waltzer Berry Dental Associates is proud to offer a wide range of general dental services to patients of all ages. Dr. Waltzer has the expertise and knowledge needed to provide every patient with the care they deserve. With a warm and welcoming environment, patients feel comfortable and can ask any questions they may have about their dental treatment.

Common Family Dentistry Procedures

Your teeth and gums are the foundation of a beautiful smile. Tooth decay and gum disease are some of the main reasons people visit the dentist. Plaque builds up on teeth over time. If plaque forms below the gum line, bacteria can invade and create a host of other dental problems. Furthermore, the surfaces and areas between the teeth and under the gum line must be maintained and treated on a regular basis in order to ensure proper dental hygiene.

We will work with you to develop a customized dental hygiene and preventive plan that will help prevent, uncover, or treat any problems as early as possible.

Preventive Care (Dental Cleanings)

It is suggested that patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by Dr. Waltzer. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile. X-rays may need to be taken to help detect possible cavities in between teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Sealants are a great way to help prevent cavities in permanent teeth.

Bonded Fillings

We only employ bonded, tooth-colored restorations to fill teeth. They are mercury-free.

Periodontal Services

Though your mouth may feel healthy and you may not have any symptoms, periodontal disease can progress without a patient knowing. If left untreated, periodontal disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth. It can also contribute to multiple systemic diseases far from the oral cavity. This is why early treatment and prevention is so important! Your dentist will make sure you are receiving the highest quality of care that will assist in preventing periodontal disease from developing.

Digital X-rays

Dental x-rays are a great diagnostic tool that provides important information not visible during a routine dental exam. We employ only digital X-ray equipment, which exposes our patients to a much lower radiation dose than conventional X-ray equipment. We also have other high-tech techniques to detect cavities early. Our dental team will utilize this important information to safely and accurately detect any dental abnormalities and then create an accurate treatment plan.

Fluoride Treatment

Topically applied fluoride is not just for kids any more. It’s a simple and quick process and can be done during your routine cleaning. No extra appointment is necessary. Fluoride is a mineral that helps prevent tooth decay and is applied to your teeth. This strengthens the enamel so your smile will be as strong as ever.

Invisalign® is an orthodontic system that straightens teeth without the use of traditional braces. A series of clear plastic aligners are utilized to create tooth movement. Moving teeth with removable aligners provides a comfortable invisible way to have teeth aligned and your smile restored.

Invisalign® is recommended for most orthodontic situations with mild to moderate spacing or crowding. The aligners are virtually undetectable, easy to use, and comfortable to wear.

Endodontic Therapy (Root Canals)

Root canal therapy is needed when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth causing an infection of the nerve, or when severe trauma has affected the tooth. Regular checkups with your dentist helps to avoid and prevent the need for endodontic therapy. But once the pulp has become infected, it must be treated to avoid further issues since it cannot heal by itself. Some signs that a pulp is infected include sensitivity to hot or cold foods or liquids, pain, swelling, or even a bad taste in the mouth. For some patients no symptoms are obvious and they are unaware a problem even exists until they are seen by their dentist for an exam.

When endodontic therapy is performed, your dentist will clean out the infected pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. Once the area has been disinfected, the canals of the tooth are filled with a special material to prevent from further infections, and help in the healing of the tooth. Sometimes a core build-up, bonded post, and crown are necessary for restoring a tooth to function.

When permanent teeth are significantly damaged, extracting the compromised teeth can, in some cases, help you return to optimal oral health. After discussing your various treatment options with you and deciding on an extraction, your dentist will perform your treatment in the comfort of our office. Your treatment will be:

• Gentle
• Comfortable
• Completed in one visit

Following the extraction, it is important to replace the tooth to prevent problems with the surrounding teeth. You can discuss your tooth replacement options with your dentist during your initial consultation.
